A day of Sorrow

I was working today as a young 19-20 gal took a test and walked out to me in the middle of it crying saying she just got a text message that her mother had died in a car accident.... this is for her.....

I sat down on the stone bench as a small glimmer of light pierced the darkened skies. The thunder rolled all around me and lightning struck down a mighty oak tree as wind swept away the pedals of the small flowers at my feet. The sun embraced my heart as it began to rain; the light flickered into shadow as I saw her out there. Wet broken and alone she lay with tears of sorrow falling from her face. The thunder loomed over her as I approached and she looked at me as the hope was doused from her soul. I knelt to her side but no words came from my mouth as she cupped in her hands and outstretched to my eyes a locket with a picture of a woman resembling her. “She’s gone… it’s taken her” was all she could say through the woe that had consumed her. “An accident…. My mother is gone…. She died…” she fell back to the cold soaked grass as the locket fell to what looked like a cell phone. I grabbed first the locket and closed it, then picked up the cell phone and all that read on the text was “We have to go to the hospital, mom has been in a car accident, she died.” From Step dad. I gave her the locket, “Your mother will never leave you, she will always live through you and reside in your heart…” I opened an umbrella to keep the rain off of her as others arrived, a man took the umbrella and another woman embraced her on the ground… I walked away as she said one thing “thank you…” It caused me to turn, look through her eyes and into her soul that had torn asunder and smile to her, she needed hope in tomorrow and maybe I had given her a reason to do so.

The long walk.

The grass whipped back and forth as he passed the open field, old discarded farm equipment was slowly falling away into nothingness as he passed. The pack on his back was heavy and with a smile from under his large brimmed hat came a smile, maybe it was the heat getting to him or maybe it was something else. He walked the earth each day with only the next moment on his mind and nothing else. The wind from a distant storm gust danced around him, it sounded so familiar, like the distant laughter of his friends back home its light touch caressed his skin so gently... He walked past an old dusty and well worn pathway that lead to an old white farm house that had but one light on, he stopped for but a second and thought about all that could have been, his feet ached from all the miles. "For a man who chose to journey, some of your paths must be alone..." he remembered as he looked up at the sky, the sun had begun to set moments ago and stars were already beginning to peek through the orange and deep violet sky, he kicked up the dust again and began to move on...

Broken Shackles!

I have turned my back on all I have known, I have walked away from everything everybody else has told me is right and wrong... I follow God but I do it the way it was ment for me... I have decended to the very pits of my existance and peirced the very heart of my own dogma... I have never walked somewhere I thought so dark faith wise and felt so alive and free. I am doing well I thought I would give my ol xanga a big overhaul and freak a few people out... lets see how it works

He held the amulet in his hand, wondering what will happen... then he threw it to the rocks below and as it shattered into a thousand peices his reality did likewise. Realize now that if one gets too close to the light that is the sun... they will get burned... and if you walk away from it... cold and shadow will consume you.
